America loves the story of the bush leaguer who is called up to the big leagues and hits the big pennant-clinching home run. That’s the story of Austin, Texas, actress Debra Cole. A journeyman actress whose big-time credits are limited to scenes in The Toy (1982), Crossing Delancey (1988) and The Hot Spot (1990), Debra has toiled in the relative obscurity of industrial productions and television commercials, working her wide-grinning magic in more than 100 of each, with clients that include Land Rover and Dell Computers. She cut her teeth in the entertainment business on the radio. As a morning drive time radio host in Austin, Texas, she was named Billboard Magazine’s Radio Personality of the Year. While the radio show didn’t last (they never do), she was able to parlay that exposure in voice work on numerous projects. When major league director Dennis Hopper needed an extra rack to round out the exposure of his gritty thriller The Hot Spot, Debra was there to step up to the plate. In one of the most famous nude scenes in cinema, Debra and Jennifer Connelly do a little skinny dipping. When they get out of the water and talk, the two girls sit naked on the bank then lay out and soak up the sun. While Jen gets on all fours and shows off her lady garden from behind, Debra opts to flash bush from the front as she sits down and starts rubbing lotion all over her body. Debra still works in the voice over world and behind the camera, but she hasn’t appeared on screen since appearing in The Hot Spot, so I have a feeling we won’t be seeing anymore of Debra’s hot spots anytime soon.
